Obtaining the Certificado de Delitos with Your Digital Certificate

Excited to start? Read this post to find out the steps in obtaining the certificado de delitos with your digital certificate.

The Certificado de Delitos de Naturaleza Sexual is a certificate that you obtain to be able to access or exercise a profession, trade, activity or volunteering that involves regular contact with minors. You will present this certificate on Day 1 of the language assistants program, so every 1st of October.

Whether you’re a first-timer or a renewal, you need to get this certificate. My school asked this from me back in my first year in 2019. Yes, first-timers have the NBI Clearance, but that is the equivalent of another document in Spain called the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales.

The certificado de delitos is free, and you can even download it from the Spanish government’s website if you already have your certificado digital (digital certificate). It’s fairly easy. Follow the steps below:

1. Go to this website.

Click on the link: https://sede.mjusticia.gob.es/es/tramites/certificado-registro-central

There will be a popup asking for your password for your digital certificate.

4. Tick the boxes.

On the next page, just tick the two boxes then click “Siguiente”.

This page just wants to get your consent in order to proceed to the next steps.

5. Add your details.

The next page will already have your full name, date of birth, and place of birth. You just have to enter your Spanish number following the format, then your email address. When done, click “Siguiente“.

6. Confirm your details.

The next page will just summarise your data. Double-check if everything is correct, then click “Confirmar“.

7. All done!

The next page will say that your request has been successfully completed, and there will be a button to download the certificate.

The certificate will look like this, printed on an A4 paper.

All your information is super helpful. Thank you for publishing these blogs. A couple of questions on this process. Can you do this after you receive your visa with the NIE but before you arrive in Spain? It wasn’t clear to me from the post exactly what you need to do this, if it’s all done online, and when you can do it. It seems like maybe this could be done as soon as you have your NIE and just use your school’s telephone number? (So, you could take care of this before arriving in Spain?) Thanks for any clarification!

Hey, Nadine. Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad you find the blog helpful.

As mentioned on the first paragraph of this blog post, this guide is only helpful if you already have a digital certificate. You can get your digital certificate once you already have your TIE.

As a first-timer, this entry is for you: https://chmntr.com/certificado-de-delitos-de-naturaleza-sexual-appointment/

You can get this document with just your passport if you don’t have your TIE yet. Follow the steps on this blog entry (I’ve just done it and it’s exactly the same). You cannot do this if you’re not in Spain yet, because you need to do this in-person. You need to submit this on your first day at school.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
